Prof. Liu Hai Min of Northeast Normal University Gave a Seminar about Systematic Management of Teaching

To enhance the teaching quality and standard of teaching management, the Academic Affairs Office has invited the original Vice Rector and doctoral advisor Liu Hai Min to conduct a series of seminar for staff.

As a candidate of the Cross-century Talents Scheme, national renowned teacher from the third year’s Tertiary Institution of the Ministry of Education, supervisor of key curriculum of the nation, national teaching group and quality curriculum of the nation, Deputy Head and Member of the Committee of Teaching Guidance of Education of the Ministry of Education and evaluation expert of the Faculty of Education of the Chinese University of Hong Kong.

Hosted by Vice Rector Kong Fanqing, Prof. Liu gave a seminar on “Educator’s Profession Advancement for Sophisticated Quality” for our teachers on the afternoon of 11 May. Discussing three aspects, namely the era of global development in higher education, the innovative design and revolution of teaching at university and the advancement of university educators, Prof. Liu analysed the necessity and strategies of educator’s profession advancement. During the Q&A secession, Registrar Li Shu Ying, Head of Academic Affairs Office Cai Zhiming, Professor of FOB Chao Peng and other lecturers conducted a lively discussion and elaborated on the significance of homework, the relationship of teaching and educating people, interactive teaching and other topics. After the seminar, Vice Rector Kong presented Prof. Liu with souvenirs of our university and acknowledged his help for assisting with the development of CityU’s quality of teaching. She pointed out that the quality of teaching is the foundation of CityU’s development and that the university will organise more campaigns of the same kind for rising the quality of teaching and cultivating more talents for the society of Macau.

On the afternoon of 12 May, Prof. Liu gave a seminar on “Quality Standard of Systematic Management of Bachelor Teaching” for the teaching administrators in which he introduced the international trends of improving the quality of teaching, basic construction of standard of quality and the systematic management of bachelor teaching and its application. During the Q&A session, Prof. Liu shared his own working experience and elaborated on the questions regarding teaching management.
