First, seize the opportunity to learn and be grateful. According to Rector Liu, we should be thankful to our parents for their hard work, our teachers for their dedication, our friends for their support, and those around us for their selfless contributions; we should live our lives with a grateful heart and let love and happiness nourish our days.

Secondly, be devoted to learning and thinking. Rector Liu encourages students to stay open-minded, explore new things and put knowledge into practice.

Thirdly, give full play to innate potential, confront challenges, develop team spirit and achieve personal growth.

  • Stay healthy, be productive and positive
  • Learn to manage emotions
  • Adopt flexible thinking and avoid mechanical learning
  • Enhance learning outcomes and develop personal skills
  • Be responsible and make commitment
  • Cultivate and develop correct values
  • Maintain self-disciplined and follow the rules and regulations of the University
  • Stay optimistic and be self-motivated in learning
  • Be an adventurer, dare to get out of the comfort zone to confront challenges
  • Build team spirit and help others to grow

Rector Liu welcomed all the new students in his speech. He hoped that students will gain personal growth at CityU, and that the University will make every effort to help students achieve development with high-quality education, diverse learning platforms and its global perspective to steer students toward success.
