Rector Liu commends CityU Macau volunteers, showing solicitude for faculty members and students

The 10th Inauguration Ceremony of City University of Macau Students’ Association Bing Sing Kok, the Recognition Ceremony of CityU Student Volunteers from Citywide Nucleic Acid Testing, and the second tea party of the “Go Green!” Staff Club were held at the Cultural Centre on Taipa Campus recently. Rector Jun Liu made a personal appearance at the events and presented certificates of appreciation to faculty members and students who volunteered in the citywide nucleic acid testing.

Rector Jun Liu looked back on and reviewed the volunteers’ work in the citywide nucleic acid testing. The volunteers fought the COVID-19 pandemic on the frontlines on behalf of CityU Macau. They sacrificed their rest at critical moments to give instructions on-site, maintain order, register information, offer counselling, assist in handling emergencies, and provide logistics services, playing their part in epidemic prevention and control. Rector Liu expressed his heartfelt gratitude to these volunteers for their selfless dedication. He hoped that they would make persistent efforts and that more students would play an active part in volunteer service in the hour of need and promote the public service spirit.

Afterwards, Rector Liu attended the 10th Inauguration Ceremony of City University of Macau Students’ Association Bing Sing Kok and the second tea party of the “Go Green!” Staff Club.

Rector Jun Liu congratulated all members of the 10th cabinet of the Students’ Association on taking office. He encouraged cabinet members to develop self-management skills, learn to work and collaborate with people around them, grow into responsible citizens, and set a good example for other students. He further noted that CityU Macau will continue to provide guidance and assistance to the Students’ Association, and the latter is expected to become a bridge that connects students and the University, serve the students wholeheartedly, and hold more wholesome activities.

The second “Go Green!” activity was carefully prepared by the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences. The Department of Innovative Social Work, the Applied Psychology Programme, the General Education Department, the Portuguese Programme, the Cultural Industry Programme and the English Programme set up six game booths, offering LEGO Six Bricks, Painting Psychoanalysis, Traditional Chinese Knots and Riddles, Understanding Portuguese-speaking Countries, Movie Rebus, and Accent Challenge. A great number of faculty members participated in the games and won fabulous prizes. In addition, exquisite refreshments were available on-site. Faculty members spent a delightful afternoon chatting with each other.
