Dean of the Research Institute of International and Comparative Education of Beijing Normal University, Prof. Liu Bao Cun visited the Macau Institute of Development Studies of City U recently, and was warmly welcomed by the Vice rector of the University, Prof. Aliana Leong. The two sides exchanged views on Comparative Education, Higher Education, as well as Education Policy and Management. According to Prof. Leong, the Macau Institute of Development Studies was approved by the Board in September 2011 and was formally established in 2012. The Institute is established to promote studies on the social, economic and cultural fields in Macau and the Asia-Pacific regions. The University takes the Institute as a platform to invite exceptional local and overseas educational experts and scholars to discuss the needs and trends of Macau social and education development, to create corresponding degree courses in education or short-term training, and carry out all types of training of teachers and education research projects jointly with education institutes and resources. By serving the Macau society and residents, the Macau Institute of Development Studies will reflect and enhance the contribution and values of the University. In this year, the programs of Master and Doctor of Education will be offered by the Institute. Both of the two programs have three study fields: Educational Administration, Adult Education, and Educational Information Technology. The programs aim to train high-level educational leadership talents for Macau and the neighboring regions. Prof. Liu conveyed that the talents of teaching management, school operation and leadership, educational administrative, research and management of education, educational information technology and lifelong learning leaders are all the important components in the promotion of education, thus, training the education professionals and the industry elite in the above fields is an urgent task. He also expressed his support and congratulations on the successful creation of the programs. Prof. Liu Bao Cun is Director of the Humanities and Social Science Key Research Base of the Ministry of Education of the PRC, Comparative Education Research Center of Beijing Normal University, Director of the Breeding Base of International Education and Research Center of the Ministry of Education of PRC, and the Dean of the Research Institute of International and Comparative Education of Beijing Normal University.
