The ‘One Belt, One Road’ Postgraduate Academic Salon of CityU was opened recently. CityU Board member Mr. Kyan Su Lone, Executive Associate Dean of FOB Eva Khong, Associate Dean of Institute for Research on Portuguese-speaking countries Ivo Manuel Veiga Carneiro de Sousa, experts from various fields and around 60 doctoral and postgraduate students attended the Academic Salon. With the nation’s ‘One Belt, One Road’ strategy, the significance of Macau as the ‘trade cooperation platform between China and Portuguese-speaking countries’ has been growing. Aligning the development of CityU with that of Macau and the region, the university has founded the only Institute for Research on Portuguese-speaking countries in Macau. The Institute has a team of experienced professionals and has achieved various research accomplishments. With the support of the Institute for Research on Portuguese-speaking countries and Faculty of Business, CityU’s Macao One Belt, One Road Research Center will organise the Academic Salon regularly. Aiming to broaden the international view of postgraduate students, cultivate academic exchange vertically and horizontally across disciplines and construct a platform for academic studies, the Academic Salon examines the crucial role of Macau in partaking and promoting international cooperation under ‘One Belt, One Role’. In this Academic Salon, guests expressed their unique perspectives on the strategic development of ‘One Belt, One Road’ and discussed the ‘one purpose, two levels, three regions and four aspects’ of Macau in ‘One Belt, One Road’. The interaction between students and guests was ample and they looked forward to the coming Academic Salon. The Academic Salon will be held on every Tuesdays of the second week for all doctoral and postgraduate students. In addition, the Institute for Research on Portuguese-speaking countries will organise more activities including academic seminars and book clubs. |
