Professor Aliana Leong, Vice Rector of the City University of Macau, visited Hubei University and was received with much fervor and amity by the Vice Rector of Hubei University, Professor Gu Hao Shuang and staff. This visit has deepened the understanding of both students and teachers of Hubei University towards the situation of higher education in Macau. Leaders of Hubei University have expressed the hope to reciprocate a visit to Macau to further promote collaboration in tourism-related and pedagogical disciplines. Professor Gu expressed his warmest welcome towards Professor Leong’s entourage and gave a brief introduction of Hubei University. He said that the City University of Macau and Hubei University have already established a very solid connection. In certain areas, in-depth exchanges and collaboration already exist between both universities. Professor Gu indicated his wishes to further expand other areas of cooperation for more mutually beneficial liaisons and exchange programs. By the same token, Professor Leong expressed her sincere appreciation towards the warm reception of Hubei University. She indicated she will do her utmost to promote and deepen exchanges and collaboration of the two universities. Staff from Hubei University Representative Office of Hong Kong, Macau and Taiwan, College of Business, College of Education, leaders and experts all conferred together and carried out discussions regarding exchange programs between Hubei University and the City University of Macau. Hubei University is located in Hubei province in the city of Wuhan. It is a provincial university that focuses on comprehensive learning. Its history traces back to its predecessor, Hubei Provincial Education College, that was established in 1931. Today, Hubei University offers 31 provincial and university-wide majors with 16 of them being approved under the “Chu Tian Scholar Program” where specialized experts are hired as faculty members. In addition, the university has 50 professional undergraduate programs, 12 first-tiered Master degree programs, 9 accredited doctoral disciplines, 105 accredited professional Master degree programs, and is the accredited site for 2 professional degrees. Hubei University has 11,000+ full time undergraduates and 1,500+ doctoral and graduates. |
