Notable progress has been seen in building specialized institutes and innovating talent cultivation models. First, the newly founded Institute of Urban and Sustainable Development provides intellectual support and empowerment for urban development in Macao and the Greater Bay Area. Second, the Faculty of Health and Wellness delves into research and practice on aging, applications of positive psychology, and challenges in elderly care. Third, in terms of talent cultivation, CityU has launched the “Academician Fang Binxing Experimental Class”, establishing itself as the first university in Macao to participate in the national Fang Class demonstration program. This initiative brings educational settings closer to real-world industry demands, helping cultivate high-level professionals tailored to societal and industrial development needs. Drawing experience from the successful Tsien Excellence in Engineering Program (TEEP, also known as the Tsien Hsue-shen Elite Class) at Tsinghua University, CityU has also established an Honors Class led by Academician Quanshui Zheng to nurture high-end applied talents with strong innovative thinking and practical capabilities.
While pursuing innovation in education, CityU continues to enhance its teaching quality. In recent years, it has hosted a variety of academic forums, lectures, and conferences across multiple fields, such as the International Conference on English Language Teaching Power, the 3rd Academic Forum and Symposium on Hengqin-Macao Cross-Border Finance, and the 2025 International Urban Science Forum. These events bring together industry experts, professionals, and academic teams for meaningful exchange and collaboration, further strengthening the University’s capacity to cultivate innovative talent. Looking ahead, CityU will continue to be guided by “Virtue”, and driven by “Knowledge and Practice,” as it strives to become a comprehensive university with international competitiveness.
