On September 14, the Lecture on the Future of Creativity was held at the Ho Yin Convention Centre of CityU. Professor Mark d'Inverno, Pro-Warden of the Goldsmiths College, University of London, UK, was invited as the keynote speaker to bring teachers and students a feast of knowledge about creativity.
The term “creativity” has been widely known and widely disseminated since the 1950s and is widely used in academic fields, marketing, politics, and daily life. Prof. Mark d'Inverno’s lecture focused on “what is human creation activity”, "what pedagogy should we use to teach creative activities?", and "how should we redefine AI research to stimulate human creative activities?" and tried to analyze them from the perspective of musicians, lecturers, and artificial intelligence researchers.
Prof. Mark d'Inverno interacted with the students enthusiastically and took this opportunity to answer a series of questions about "creativity" and "how to be creative".
Prof. Mark d'Inverno holds a Master's degree in Mathematics and a Master's degree in Computation from the University of Oxford and a Ph.D. from University College London. He currently serves as a Pro-Warden (International) (one of the vice-chancellors) at Goldsmiths, University of London, UK, and served as head of research and enterprise from 2012 to 2016. He is also a highly regarded jazz pianist in the UK and has successfully led different types of bands, such as the Mark d'Inverno Quintet, for more than 30 years.
