The Registration Day for the academic year 2017/2018 took place this week. With the cooperation of all the departments of CityU, the Registration Day was held swimmingly and 1500 freshmen has successfully registered.
Strong typhoon Hato struck Macau a week before the Registration Day and has brought various degrees of destruction to our campus and dormitories. Awaiting to receive the new students, all departments has been restoring and cleaning up ceaselessly so that the university and all facilities were back to normal within a short period of time.
On the Registration Day, the sky was clear after the fatal typhoon and endless rain. Filled with anticipation, our new students arrived at the Taipa Campus for the registration. They were welcomed by our volunteers at the Border Gate where shuttle buses were arranged to pick them up. Our student volunteers in uniform could also be found around the school campus to greet, answer queries and assist students and parents. The registration was completed successfully thanks to the contribution of the student volunteers and all departments.
Our university leadership were concerned about the situation of our first-year students. They were at the campus to instruct and greet parents. Visiting different parties, they ensured the hard work of all departments and expressed heartfelt gratitude for the assistance of the volunteers. Moreover, they welcomed our freshmen earnestly and believed they can shine with CityU as the platform.
Concerned about the accommodation of the new students, the leaders visited the dormitories with the representatives from different departments. They sent their regards to the students and wished that they can adapt to the new environment swiftly and enjoy their fruitful university lives with their peers.
To help the new students and their parents to get to know the school campus and the qualities of our university, an orientation for first-year students was organized on 31 August. During the orientation, our Vice Rector Kong Fanqing expressed her warm welcome and expectation to the new students. Furthermore, the representatives from different departments also gave a detailed explanation about the university campus, teaching facilities and courses.
