With solid professional foundations, three student teams from the Faculty of Business (FOB) at City University of Macau (CityU) achieved remarkable success in the “China Mainland, Hong Kong and Macao Accounting and Business Case Competition 2026”, winning slivers respectively. The awards demonstrated their solid professionalism in accounting and finance as well as in case analysis. The competition was hosted by the China Chamber of International Commerce (CCOIC), with The Institute of Certified Management Accountants and the Institute of Public Accountants as supporting organizations.

The competition aimed to enhance the ability of the students of Mainland China, Hong Kong, and Macao, in terms of their capabilities of conducting business research using financial and accounting information across the three regions, while promoting deep interaction and exchanges in accounting education. The competition was conducted through case presentation with followed up questions. The cases for this competition included iFLYTEK Co., Ltd. Students were required to formulate a detailed three-year business plan covering 2026 to 2028, evaluating all aspects such as their financial statement analysis, strategic planning, and market analysis.

CityU team members demonstrated a high level of teamwork and professional competence.

  • The first team consisted of students Ou Zhou, Zhao Yiyang, Ling Tianle, and Chen Yitong from FOB, under the supervision of Senior Lecturer Cathy Cheong Hang I and Assistant Professor Yu Bangxing.
  • The second team consisted of students Xiu Yuhan, Liu Sitong, Yin Shiyu, and Yang Jiahui, from FOB, guided by Senior Lecturer Cathy Cheong Hang I and Associate Professor Tiffany Leung Cheng Han.
  • The third team consisted of students from FOB and the Faculty of Finance, including Chen Letian, Chen Siying, Wang Xinqi, Xue Minxing, and Zeng Kairan, guided by Professor Zhou Yonghong and Senior Lecturer Cathy Cheong Hang I.

Through in-depth analysis of iFLYTEK, all three teams refined their business plans and presentations, and gained valuable hands-on experience in financial analysis, strategic planning, and professional presentation skills. They also took the opportunity to exchange ideas with outstanding students from a number of key universities in China Mainland, Hong Kong, and Macao, which further broadened their horizons and proved highly rewarding.

Going forward, CityU will continue to encourage students to participate in high-level disciplinary competitions, further optimize education system, establish more high-level academic competition and exchange platforms, and cultivate more outstanding talents who possess solid professional knowledge, global vision and innovation practical abilities.
