New semester message: Rector Jun Liu encourages faculty and students to stand firm and set sail for greater success
Dear faculty and students,
Happy New Year! As we bid farewell to the Year of the Tiger, a new year awaits us in the auspicious Year of the Rabbit. 2022 was a challenging year. Let us look forward to the wonderful year of 2023. It is my pleasure to welcome you back to campus on behalf of the University. I would like to wish you a pleasant start to the second semester.
Time flies, seasons change, and years pass. Under the support of the nation and the SAR government, the University has improved facilities, and enhanced teaching quality by providing education in line with social advancement and industry growth over the past year. We have made remarkable strides and created a favorable environment for research and study. Together, we thrive.
Cultivate talents while staying true to our mission. The University has been creating more favorable environments and integrated resources for innovation and entrepreneurship experiences. Through its collaborations with leading universities and businesses in the Greater Bay Area, mainland China, and overseas, CityU continues to offer exceptional exchange opportunities and internships to its students. We have created platforms for them to put knowledge into practice with the aim to cultivate talents through multi-disciplinary industry-academia collaborations to steer industry development. It is encouraging to see a growing number of our alumni playing an active role in different sectors. We are pleased to assist our students in achieving success in various competitions. And, it is always heartwarming to witness their growth as individuals and as teams.
Forge ahead as a team. We appreciate your active participation in anti-epidemic measures implemented by the SAR government and the University during COVID-19 outbreaks. Thank you for being a part of our team during the challenges and variables. Your commitment to your role and your involvement in various volunteer positions were integral to CityU's contribution to Macao during the pandemic combat. With the new COVID-19 situation under way, we finally have a fresh start after the three-year pandemic. As always, CityU will take strict anti-pandemic measures to create a healthy campus environment.
Set sail for greater success. The Tiger Year has brought us a leap of progress. We believe the Rabbit Year will bring us joy, luck, and hope. CityU is an excellent environment for learning and development. In passing down the CityU gene of Virtue, Knowledge, Practice, we hope you will stay true to your goal, just like nimble rabbits – loving while dreaming big.
Dear students, the first semester examinations have been scheduled for next week. Please pay attention to the arrangements made by the Registry and your Faculty. We hope you will use your time wisely to prepare for your examinations. Stay healthy. We believe you can achieve excellent results.
In addition, please conduct proper hygiene practices, implement preventive measures to protect health, and pay attention to the latest announcement and anti-epidemic measures implemented by the SAR Government. Let us stay healthy and positive and build a safe campus together. Let's look forward to a productive and fulfilling semester.
Perseverance is the fuel that drives all success, so stay patient, and hard work will pay off. Let’s stay grounded and determined. As a team, we will thrive together at CityU. It’s a fresh start and a new semester. You will have new goals, a greater role, and better development. CityUers, let’s gear up, cheer up, and never give up.
