In his speech, Rector Shu Guang Zhang expressed his sincere welcome and gratitude to the leaders, guests, teachers and students who attended the flag-raising ceremony. He said that “Love China, Love Macao” has always been the mainstream core value firmly rooted in Macao society and passed down from generation to generation, and it is more deeply rooted in the process of cultivating talents. In recent years, universities have continuously strengthened the education of “Love China, Love Macao” and have deeply integrated this core value into the “five-in-one” learning model, thus inspiring students’ feelings of “Love China, Love Macao”. The flag-raising ceremony is a practice of the core value education of “Love China, Love Macao” and also a valuable experience for university teachers and students.

The flag-raising team this time was the Student National Flag Team of City University of Macau. The team is composed of 20 members (12 boys and 8 girls), of which 10 members (6 boys and 4 girls) were the flag raisers. The main flag bearer was Tu Yiran, a cabinet member of the Postgraduate Association. CityU was very honored of inviting the PLA Macao Garrison and the Public Security Police Force to give guidance to the national flag team, which allowed the flag team to experience and study in the Taipa Camp of the PLA Macao Garrison and carry out many exercises in CityU to ensure the smooth procedures, accurate steps, standard movements and clear essentials of the flag-raising ceremony.

Tu Yiran, a member of the City University of Macau National Flag Team, was very proud and honored to be the flag bearer of CityU's first flag-raising ceremony. He said that cultural heritage requires a sense of ceremony. The national flag is a symbol of the country and the nation, and the flag-raising ceremony is an important carrier of the transmission of patriotism. It is of great significance to experience and participate in the flag-raising ceremony as a “member of CityU”. Mai Jinhang, a student from the flag team, said that today's flag-raising ceremony was a historic moment for CityU and also an important experience for himself. Our national flag team received many instructions from the PLA Macao Garrison and the Public Security Police Force, as well as encouragement from teachers, so that they benefited a lot from it.
