The Inauguration Ceremony of the “Research Center of E-sports of City University of Macau” and the “Blockchain Research Center of City University of Macau” Is Successfully Held

On October 10, the opening ceremony of the "Research Center of E-sports" and the "Blockchain Research Center" of CityU was held at Ho Yin Convention Centre. Mr. Wan Sucheng, Director of the Publicity and Cultural Affairs Department of the Liaison Office of the Central People's Government in the Macao SAR, Mr. Lam Io Pak, Counselor of the Office of the Secretary for Social Affairs and Culture, Mr. Dai Zhiqiang, Professor of Communication University of China, Mr. Yang Yongdong, Chairman of China International Capital Corporation, Mr. Huang Aiming, CEO of China International Capital Corporation, Mr. Wang Xinming, CSO of Beijing MIIT Chuang Zhi Business School, Mr. Liu Jun, Chairman of China E-sports (Xiamen) Culture Communication Co., Ltd. and founder of China E-sports Culture, Mr. Chan Meng Kam, Chairman of the CityU Council, Mr. Kyan Su Lone, member of the CityU Council, CityU Rector Shu Guang Zhang, and Director Qiu Xiaohua of the Institute of Economic Research of CityU, attended the opening ceremony. In the presence of all guests, the officiating guests unveiled the "Research Center of E-sports" and the "Block Chain Application Research Center" of CityU.  Afterwards, Prof. Dai Zhiqiang gave a wonderful keynote speech on the development of e-sports.

At present, e-sports have gradually developed into a mature sunrise industry. The General Administration of Sport of China and the National Development and Reform Commission have issued support policies to encourage e-sports events and promote the healthy development of the e-sports industry. E-sports have become an emerging industry worldwide, and there will be more room for its development in the future. Blockchain technology and application are developing rapidly and have been widely used in many fields in China to facilitate people's daily life and work. The establishment of the "Research Center of E-sports" and the "Blockchain Research Center" of CityU enriches the structure of the university's production, study and research, conforms to the social development trend, and will promote the diversification of the academic and scientific research of CityU. CityU insists on surviving on quality, developing on characteristics, and strives to become a high-quality institution with distinctive regional characteristics based on locality, pursuit of excellence and global vision.
