Sponsored by the Macau Foundation, the Journal of City Research of Macau jointly published by CityU and Social Sciences Academic Press, the national authoritative press in the fields of humanities and sciences, was officially published recently. Journal of City Research of Macau is a new comprehensive collection of academic papers founded by CityU. Two volumes will be published each year. The journal has seven columns, including tourism development, humanities and society, business review, education review, legal system review, and Portuguese-speaking country studies.

Education is the foundation of national development in the long run.  Highlighting the characteristics of the blending of Chinese and Western cultures, the distinctive features of higher education in Macao become an important factor in ensuring the stability of the "one country, two systems". At present, the SAR Government is fully implementing the development strategy of "Education-driven Prosperity for Macao, Building Macao by Capable Talents", increasing resource input in education, strengthening institutional development, and practicing education equity. Therefore, CityU has made the first edition of Journal of City Research of Macau into a special issue regarding education, bringing together 23 experts and scholars from four regions of China across the Straits to discuss topics such as basic education, higher education, postgraduate education, vocational education, and life education. The above-mentioned experts and scholars are from Peking University, Renmin University of China, Beijing Foreign Studies University, Beijing Institute of Technology, Shenzhen University, Southeast University, Education University of Hong Kong, Taiwan Chengchi University, City University of Macau and other well-known universities.

In recent years, CityU has been upholding the core mission of "serving Macao", the educational value of "quality first", the educational model of "a metropolitan university" and the curriculum system of "staggered development". It has adhered to the construction of "multi-academic exchange" platform, so as to realize the vision of "Humanistic CityU and Liberal CityU", and make the university's development plan conform to the social and economic needs of the country and the Macao SAR. The publication of the Journal of City Research of Macau is a new attempt by CityU to serve as an institution of higher education with distinctive regional characteristics to carry out the educational core values of "Love for China and Macao" into teaching and scientific research practice. CityU hopes to promote Macao's active integration into the national development, deepen academic cooperation between the SAR and the Chinese Mainland, build an academic exchange platform in the fields of humanities and social sciences, and serve Macao's diversified construction and the development of the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area.
