Teachers and Students of China’s Diplomacy Lecture of CityU Visit Beijing during the Summer Vacation

In order to cultivate the love for Macao and China of students from the City University of Macau, under the support and coordination of the Liaison Office of the Central People's Government in the Macao SAR and the Office of the Commissioner of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the People's Republic of China in the Macao Special Administrative Region, Professor IP Kuai Peng, Pro-Rector of CityU, led the teachers and students of China's Diplomacy Lecture to visit Beijing from July 8 to 10. They visited the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Latin American Institute of Chinese Academy of Social Sciences, the Center for Taiwan, Hong Kong and Macao Studies of Chinese Academy of Social Sciences, Tsinghua University and the Hong Kong and Macao Basic Law Research Society of the China Law Society. They came to the site of China's diplomatic activities, visited the scenic spots and historical sites of the motherland, and experienced the rapid development of the country and the splendid Chinese culture. On the morning of July 9, 12 students and teachers from the City University of Macau visited the Latin American Institute of Chinese Academy of Social Sciences. They were warmly received by Professor Yuan Dongzhen, the Deputy Director of the Latin American Institute, and discussed with the experts on Latin American studies of the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences. The two sides exchanged in-depth views on issues such as the establishment of China-Portugal trade service platform in Macao, Brazil's awareness of the Belt and Road, and Mozambique's prospects for promoting traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) and TCM services in Africa as a docking base. Students enthusiastically asked questions and the atmosphere was lively and warm. In the afternoon, under the coordination of the Office of the Commissioner of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the People's Republic of China in the Macao Special Administrative Region, the teachers and students of CityU attended the regular press conference of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. The solemnity of the Blue Room and the elegance and ability of the spokesperson Hua Chunying amazed the teachers and students at the conference. This allowed the students witness China’s confidence as a great power in foreign affairs. In the evening, the teachers and students had a discussion with Wang Zhenmin, Head of the Law Department of the Liaison Office of the Central People's Government in the Macao SAR, President of Hong Kong and Macao Basic Law Research Society of China Law Society, and Professor of School of Law of Tsinghua University, Lin Laifan, Vice President of Hong Kong and Macao Basic Law Research Society of China Law Society, and Professor of School of Law, Tsinghua University, Ms. Chen Yang, Deputy Secretary General of Hong Kong and Macao Basic Law Research Society of the China Law Society on Macao's foreign affairs issues in the Macao Basic Law. The atmosphere was harmonious. Pro-Rector IP Kuai Peng presented the souvenirs of CityU to President Wang Zhenmin. Both sides agreed to further strengthen exchanges and cooperation in the future. The visit to Beijing included visits in the campus of Tsinghua University, the Palace Museum, and the sites of the Old Summer Palace. The students had the opportunity to learn about the elegant and graceful garden scenery, experience the traditional Chinese culture and gain a deeper understanding of China's modern history. The City University of Macau has always regarded the love for China and Macao as the core value of education. It has continued to invest in educational resources to focus on the development of the high-quality general course of the China's Diplomacy Lecture, and invited famous diplomats and scholars to present lectures and exchanges, providing students in Macao with a wider horizon of important knowledge about Chinese national conditions. The visit to Beijing is an important part of China's Diplomacy Lecture. It is hoped that through the personal experience of the students, they can have a deeper understanding of the lectures and truly take pride in China's national development. |
